Ben's Story

Benjamin Levesque is a saxophonist, woodwind technician, and educator from Windsor, Connecticut. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from the University of Connecticut and is currently pursuing his Master of Music at the Hartt School.

Benjamin is an active soloist and chamber musician with a passion for both classical and contemporary repertoire. He has performed with the UConn Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Saxophone Quartet, and was a member of the Quercus Alba Saxophone Quartet. In 2022, he premiered Liquid Metal by Chris Evan Hass, and in 2023, he studied at the Sinta Quartet Institute with the internationally renowned Donald Sinta Quartet. He was named winner of the UConn Concerto Competition in 2022 and the Hartt School’s Parinov Concerto Competition in 2025.

A strong advocate for new music, Benjamin has commissioned and premiered several works for saxophone, collaborating closely with composers to expand the instrument’s repertoire.

He is the alto saxophonist of the Hierax Quartet, winners of the 2025 Hartt Chamber Music Competition, semi-finalists in the Plowman Chamber Music Competition, and third-place winners at the 2025 MTNA National Chamber Music Competition.

When Ben is not teaching, playing, or fixing saxophones, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, fishing, and listening to music.
